야구 한미전에서 있었던 심판의 오심은 세계적인 뉴스꺼리였다.

이는 심판의 판정이 누가봐도 오심이라는 것을 증명하는 것이라고 볼수 있다.

AP통신과 로이터통신은 26일 미국의 3-2 승리로 끝난 야구 준결승 한국과 미국의 경기에 대해 심판의 잘못된 판정 두개로 인해 미국이 득점을 하게 됐다고 시드니발로 보도했다.

AP통신의 조 케이(Joe kay)기자는 26일 야구 준결승(한국:미국)에서 한국이 2:1로 앞서던 7회 심판이 두번씩이나 오판해 동점이 됐다며 경기상황을 자세히 보도했다.

보도에 따르면, 7회말 마크 킨케이드의 번트 공격에서 1루수가 한발 앞서 볼을 잡았고, 그 후 킨케이드는 1루수의 글러브를 밟았으나, 1루심은 세이프를 선언했다. 이어 미옌트킨케이츠의 안타로 1루에 있던 킨케이드는 3루까지 뛰어 슬라이딩으로 들어오다 테그를 당했지만, 3루심 역시 또 세이프로 판정했다.

조 케이 기자는 경기 후 킨케이드를 만나 "아웃이 아니였냐?"고 물었지만, 킨케이드는 대답을 회피하면서 "팽팽한 경기였다"며 아웃이라는 주장을 부인했다.

로이터 통신의 레리 파인(Larry Fine)기자 역시 26일 시드니발 기사에서 미국은 '의심스러운 두개의 판정'으로 앞서던 한국팀을 따라잡았다고 보도하면서 판정에 대해 문제를 제기했다.

Bad calls by two different umpires on two different plays involving the same runner led to the tying run in the seventh. Mike Kinkade was ruled safe at first on his bunt even though replays showed he had stepped on the first baseman's glove after he caught the ball a step in front of the base.

"The play at first was a little close" Kinkade said, sidestepping the question of whether he was out. "I wouldn't want to make that call."

Mientkiewicz -- who else? -- then singled to right and Kinkade trudged to third, oversliding the base momentarily while being tagged.

Out? No, safe again, then home on Marcus Jensen's sacrifice fly.
