백악관 北 연평도 포격 관련 성명 전문

미국 백악관은 23일 북한의 연평도 해안포 사격에 대해 로버트 기브스 대변인 명의의 규탄 성명을 발표했다. 다음은 성명 전문이다.

북한이 오늘 연평도에 해안포 공격을 가했다. 우리는 동맹국인 한국 정부와 긴밀하고 지속적으로 접촉하고 있다.

미국은 이번 공격을 강력하게 규탄하며, 북한에 호전적 행위의 중단과 정전협정의 완전한 준수를 촉구한다.

미국은 동맹국 대한민국의 방어와 지역의 평화와 안정을 유지하는데 확고한 입장을 갖고 있다.

영문 전문 = Earlier today North Korea conducted an artillery attack against the South Korean island of Yeonpyeong. We are in close and continuing contact with our Korean allies.

The United States strongly condemns this attack and calls on North Korea to halt its belligerent action and to fully abide by the terms of the Armistice Agreement.

The United States is firmly committed to the defense of our ally, the Republic of Korea, and to the maintenance of regional peace and stability.
