A senior prosecutor tendered his resignation yesterday after his investigation ended with the shocking suicide of former President Roh Moo-hyun, who was a suspect in a bribery scandal.
Lee In-gyu, the head of the central investigation division of the Supreme Prosecutors Office, submitted his letter of resignation to Deputy Prosecutor General Moon Seong-woo yesterday morning before leaving on vacation.
Ive done my duty as a prosecutor, he said through a prosecution spokesman. It is time to leave.
Appointed as head of the powerful division, Lee was in charge of the probe into the bribery scandal involving Roh and his family.
The former president jumped to his death May 23, which put heavy pressure on Lee to resign from opposition parties.
