Hyundai Motor has released 2018 versions of its flagship ecofriendly vehicle Ioniq (electric, hybrid, plug-in hybrid). The Ioniq Electric, the electric car model, can travel 200 kilometers on a single charge, an increase from previous distance of 191 kilometers. Hyundai Motor explained that the Ioniq’s improved travel distance will enhance the vehicle’s practicality as urban mobility.
The new version also introduces new functions, including real-time battery monitoring, in which the battery status is automatically checked and alerting the driver before the battery runs out. If the battery level drops under a certain level while driving, the vehicle automatically flags an alarm and guides the driver to the nearest charging station. The driver can also use navigation screen touch features to access mobile battery EV charging service offered by Hyundai Motor. Drivers are entitled to four free charges a year up to five years.
The Ioniq Electric retails for 39.15 – 42.15 million won, the Ioniq Hybrid for 22 – 26.35 million won, the Ioniq plug-in hybrid for 32.45 – 34.25 million won. The price is reflective of after-tax benefits, excluding government subsidies.
