U.S. to North: Stop Counterfeiting

On November 29, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice urged North Korea to immediately stop its production of counterfeit U.S. notes.

In an interview with USA Today, Rice stated the above in response to the question of whether the U.S. plans to invite North Korea’s delegate to the United Nations for discussions about the North’s illegal financial transactions and economic sanctions on North Korea.

Rice said, “Though the U.S. considers North Korea ready to talk about what the law is, it knows what North Korea is doing at the same time,” and strongly suggested that the U.S. is well aware of the North’s manufacturing of counterfeit U.S. notes.
