Chairwoman Park Geun-hye of the main opposition party, the Grand National Party (GNP), expressed her view Wednesday regarding Korea Railroad`s recent scandal involving inappropriate investment in the Russian oil development project. According to GNP spokeswoman Jeon Yeo-ok, Chairwoman Park stated while attending the GNP leaders’ meeting yesterday, “There is much more to this scandal than meets the eye. We should continue with investigation to face the truth.’’

Rep. Kang Jae-sup, floor leader of the GNP, requested the National Assembly to investigate this scandal related to the Korea Railroad, saying that “while no additional information has been verified, there may have been external pressure, possibly close to those in power."

For this purpose, the GNP organized an investigation committee for the Russian oil development project investment scandal, led by Rep. Kwon Young-se, the head of GNP`s Commission for Strategy and Planning.
