Japan Postponed Supplying 200 Thousand Tons of Rice to NK

Posted November. 08, 2001 10:29,

Japanese government had received a request from the World Food Plan for 200 thousands tons of rice to aid the North but postponed its rice aid to North Korea because of the oppositions from the ruling party that there is not improvement in the North Korea-Japan relationship and the matter of kidnapped Japanese. Foreign Ministry Officials also hinted that there will be no additional food aid in the year, saying ``we don`t have to haste in rice supply considering the surrounding situation of the North-Japan relationship.``
