The Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP) participates annually in Maison&Objet Paris, the international fair showcasing "decoration, design, and lifestyle" consumer goods. KIDP's Design Korea Exhibition Hall at the event has served as a steppingstone for small and medium-sized businesses with design excellence to reach broader exposure and market opportunities.
This year, KIDP is participating from September 5 to September 9, joined by Korean design businesses showcasing furniture, stationery, tableware, and more. In collaboration with IT Donga, we are introducing 23 design-driven small and medium enterprises participating in Maison&Objet Design Korea.

Keeping good posture in daily life is crucial for your overall health. Bad posture can upset your body’s balance and lead to various health problems, especially spinal issues like forward head posture, scoliosis, and ankylosing spondylitis

NOOGI develops products like chairs, portable cushions, footstools, and tables designed to correct the user’s posture and encourage proper alignment.
NOOGI was established by PARK Chanwook, who, after experiencing ankylosing spondylitis and spinal disc issues, aimed to design a chair that offers comfort for the back, neck, pelvis, and other critical areas.

After founding NOOGI, Park Chanwook spent about four years analyzing human body data and posture. He used AI technology and sensors to study data from 275 individuals and collaborated with Size Korea, part of the Korea Agency for Technology and Standards, to collect data from 4,000 people. He also developed AI algorithms with data analysis tools from Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft, and NVIDIA.

Based on this research, he designed and developed various chairs, culminating in a 3D curved seat that offers exceptional comfort. This seat features four distinct sections tailored to the shape of the buttocks and thighs, which helps adjust the position of the sit bones to maintain balance. It prevents unnecessary pressure on the tailbone and hips, enabling users to stay balanced even after long periods of sitting.

Additionally, to address issues with the chin moving forward or backward when looking straight ahead, he fine-tuned the distance and angle between the backrest and the seat. By analyzing data on height, weight, and torso and leg length, the chair is designed to ensure optimal balance and support in a seated position.

Park Chanwook stated, “Optimizing seating ergonomics is challenging due to the wide variety of sitting postures. However, after extensive research, we have developed technology that helps users maintain proper posture. Because we started this project from a patient’s perspective, we have dedicated ourselves to achieving a genuinely ergonomic design.”

NOOGI has been participating in Maison&Objet, the world’s largest lifestyle and design exhibition held in Paris, France, since 2022, supported by KIDP.

At this year's Maison&Objet, NOOGI will showcase its representative ergonomic chairs, Tritzoi and Tritzoi_X, as well as its lounge chair ‘N' Signature’ and the affordable model Daje. ‘N' Signature’ is notable for its adjustable length function that is built into the chair. This function allows users to adjust NOOGI’s patented four-section seat and two-section backrest to fit their body, making the chair feel as comfortable as a perfectly tailored item of clothing. NOOGI is also developing a dedicated app that connects to ‘N' Signature’, which will allow users to correct their posture independently.

‘Daje’ is the inaugural product from the affordable brand ‘Gazun Gaos’. It’s a versatile 2-in-1 product designed to support proper posture both indoors and outdoors. Indoors, you use it by placing the seat cushion on a chair, while outdoors, you can take just the cushion with you. The name "Daje" reflects its versatility, as it means "versatile" in Korean.

As PARK Chanwook shared, “Our participation in Maison&Objet over the past two years has led to our products being featured at Printemps, one of the top three department stores in Paris, and in the Italian design magazine DesignWanted. This year, we are hoping to expand our experience and networks for an overseas expansion and to discover new buyers.”

NOOGI plans to keep offering comfortable ergonomic chairs that are versatile for any setting. Along with this goal, the company aims to raise awareness of the positive health impacts of proper posture and help consumers improve their posture.

PARK Chanwook concluded, “We will collaborate with various companies to expand the ergonomic chair market. Beyond competing for our market share, we aim to encourage healthy lifestyle habits, make positive changes, and contribute to a better future.”
