South Korea’s cultural ministry said Friday it plans to resume and expand inter-Korean cultural exchanges in a joint policy briefing to Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon at the government complex in Seoul.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also plans to seek join entrances and form joint cheering squads with the North at the upcoming international sporting events including the PyeongChang Winter Olympics to be held from Feb. 9 to Feb. 25, the 2018 Asian Games to be held from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2 in Jakarta, Indonesia, and the Summer and Winter Universidads to be held in Russia and Italy.

The ministry will also invite North Korean athletes to domestic sporting events in South Korea and seek ways to organize a single team and do joint training. In addition, it will push ahead with a joint-hosting of the World Cup in 2030 by North and South Koreas, China and Japan.
