Apple Inc. asked a U.S. court to award it around 180 million U.S. dollars in supplemental damages and interest for violating the U.S. company’s patents on the frontal and edge design and the graphic user interface of its smartphones.

In a patent suit between the two companies that started in 2011, Samsung paid the Cupertino-based tech giant 548 million dollars under an October ruling by a U.S. federal appeals court. However, Apple sought for additional damages for continued copyright infringement and interest after the first jury verdict in 2012. Earlier this month, Samsung asked the U.S. Supreme Court to allow an appeal for the litigation.
