Asian Stocks in the Doldrums

Stunned traders on the Tokyo Stock Exchange yesterday watch the electronic display board (top) as the benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average nosedives 9.6 percent. A Chinese trader at the Shanghai Stock Exchange also looks dispirited as the Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.92 percent the same day, continuing its losing streak for four straight trading days.
