The opposition parties -- United Democratic Party, Liberty Forefront Party, and Democratic Labor Party -- submitted a proposal to dismiss Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Minister Chung Woon-chun, on Wednesday.
The parties claim that Minister Chung failed to fulfill the basic responsibility he had as minister overseeing beef negotiations by concluding a deal based on little knowledge. He seriously undermined the governments rights to inspection and the peoples rights to health, according to the bill.
A total of 151 lawmakers, 136 from the UDP, nine from the LFP, and six from the DLP, signed the proposal. The opposition parties plan to bring the bill to a vote in the National Assembly on Thursday and Friday.
