Devastation Left by Cyclone Nargis

A picture sent to the Dong-A Ilbo by an editor-in-chief of Myanmar’s weekly magazine on Friday lays bare the devastation wreaked by cyclone Nargis. The misery of the affected was not disclosed due to the military junta’s restrictions. The dead children were assumed to have tied each other’s hands with a rope not to be swept away by floods, but in vain. Restoration work proceeds in a slow pace but the military government refuses a helping hand from the international community to cling to power.
