Lantern Festival on the Buddha’s Birthday

To mark the Buddha’s Birthday, the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism and Seoul City held a festival of “Lanterns for Joy and Sharing,” and people lit lanterns in front of the City Hall at 7:00 p.m. on April 22. White elephants on top of this lantern standing in Seoul Square are this year’s symbolic motif commemorating Buddha’s birthday.
