The Ministry of Unification reported on Friday that North Korea has received 1,100 tons of fertilizer through private aid during this year.
The North had requested 500,000 tons of fertilizer from the South Korean government. The request has been under the consideration, and it will be decided on when the talks between the two Koreas resume.
North Korea has also requested 100 million square meters of vinyl film for protecting rice seed beds, and private organizations plan to send 50 million square meters of the film to North Korea by the end of this month.
In the meantime, considering the current situation that every day, 10 out of all members of separated families die of old age, the government is planning to build a database containing moving pictures of separated families.
