Nam Sang-Kook’s Corpse Was Found

A special rescue party found the body of Nam Sang-kook, former president of Daewoo Construction and Engineering Co., who had jumped into the Han River in an apparent suicide attempt, at the lower part of Han River on March 22.

The body was 20 meters away from the river bank, completely covered with sand. He was wearing glasses and Western clothes.

Nam, 59, was under a prosecution investigation into an allegation that he gave 30 million won to President Roh Moo-hyun`s brother, Roh Geon-pyeong, in return for a business favor. Right after Roh`s news conference on March 11, he left home and jumped into the Han River and killed himself.

His coffin is placed at room 7 in the funeral service center of the Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The funeral cortege will leave the residence at 7 a.m. on March 25. He will be buried in the family burial ground in Chungnam Province. 02-760-2028
