‘Folk Big Three’ Sing Reminiscence

“It is not song of reminiscence. The Middle aged have their own songs. Although they are hit songs of 1970s, they are always high in the charts among the middle aged.”

Senior folk song singers, Song Chang-sik, Yun Hyung-ju, Kim Se-hwan, will have a concert together. They plan to sing folk songs which are still alive in the middle-aged fans on the big stage. The stage is a major hall of Sejong Center for the Performing Arts at 7:00 P.M, on 1st of December. The title of the concert is Folk Big Three.

Their singing activity is still going on. Song Chang-sik performs on stage five days a week at café, Misari, Hanam-si, Gyeongi-do. There are many regular fans that come to see this ‘small concert’. Yun Hyung-ju performs on foreign stage for three to four months per year because there are many requests from Koreans residing abroad. He, who is DJ No.1 among singers, receives requests from broadcasting companies but he rejects. Kim Se-hwan also lives singing folk, playing the guitar and he is invited as client to small meetings or the middle aged events.

They say, “We are not seen in TV but we haven’t disappeared.” They held a concert at Sejong culture center at the end of 2000 and participated in producing folk albums.

They have a long experience and so the concert has various colors. The most remarkable part is temporary reunification of ‘Twin Polio’, of Song Chang-sik and Yun Hyung-ju. ‘White handkerchief’, ‘Song of Festival’, ‘Wedding cake’, which were big hit in the end of 1960s, will be sung with clean harmony.

In their solo stage performance they will sing ‘Sitting on the Road’, ‘Saturday Night’ (Kim Se-hwan), ‘La, La, La’, ‘Fool’ (Yun Hyung-ju), ‘One Time’, ‘We’ (Song Chang-sik).

Medley corner causes laughs and humor. They sing trot such as, ‘Nil Ri Ri Mam Bo’, ‘OhdongChuya’ by medley and make a variety of performances with children song and Carole, etc.

There is a corner of CM song of reminiscence. Several CM songs like, ‘Together’, ‘Hae tae Gum’, and ‘Seuggang’. Yu Hyung-ju, who will preside at the concert, is famous for witness and he will make the middle-aged fans satisfied.

At the end of concert, Song Chang-sik will lead the song ‘My Country, My People’ by Aca pella (without instrument) with Kim Se-hwan and Yun Hyung- ju participating.
