North and South Korea held a working-level meeting Oct. 13 at Geumgangwon at Mt. Geumgang for connection of rail and road link, in which the two sides agreed on the items and quantity in South Korea’s first shipment of building materials and equipment.

The South will provide a total of 78 items to the North. Among those items, 33 items including 30 kms of communications cable will be provided in credit assistance. Among 45 equipment items, 20 including 24 diesel generators will be granted for a consideration, and the remaining 25 items such as 210 15-ton trucks will be put to lease to the North for a consideration.

Both sides decided to mark “Republic of Korea” on those materials and equipment to clarify who provides. The first shipment will be delivered to the North before Oct. 18.
