U.S. Defense Forum Request For Timetable of Hwang`s Visit

The U.S. based civic organization Defense Forum requested the Korean government for the definite declaration of the Mr. Hwang Jang-Yop`s visit to the U.S. for September or October this year.

According to the Korea Embassy in the U.S. and the Defense Forum Foundation, Suzanne Scholte, the chairperson of the Defense Forum, sent a letter on July 16 to urge the Korean government for the permission of the Mr. Hwang`s visit to the U.S. for September or October this year.

The Defense Forum revealed its plan to find countermeasures in cooperation with Rep. Henry Hyde, the chairperson of the International Affairs, and Rep. Christopher Cox, the chairperson of the policy committee of GOP, if the Korean government does not present a detail timetable.

The Defense Forum has provided lectures and seminars on the issues of the diplomacy, national security, and human rights to the congress related persons. The Forum sent two people to Seoul in proxy of Reps. Hyde, Cox, and Sen. Helms last month to deliver the invitation for the U.S. trip.

Diplomatic analysts of Washington commented, ``The response of the Korean government to the official request of the Defense Forum is noteworthy.``
