Seoul Grand Park will hold a cherry blossom festival featuring cherry blossoms indigenous to Korea from Apr. 15 to May 1.
Major events will include an opening ceremony on Apr. 16, followed by 4-kilometer walks in the circular road of the zoo from 1 p.m.
On Apr. 22, performances of pop singers will be held in the square at the main gate of the zoo, and in the grass square beside the Rose Garden. Traditional folklore groups and hip hop dance groups will add to the festive mood and family song contests and paper plane flying contests will be held at the same time.
Other diverse events will be held on Apr. 15 and Apr. 22 in the vicinity of the zoo, such as traditional folk games, face painting and a digital camera photo contest.
On the last day of the festival on May 1, the seventh memorial service to pay tribute to animals that died for humans will be held at 1 a.m. in front of a memorial tower.
