Chairman of the opposition Grand National Party Lee Hoi-Chang has called for the party to fight the pending bills currently locked in the face-off with the ruling coalition.

The bills include national land development projects, the imbalance of development between the central and provincial regions, and the deterioration of law and order.

"Recently, national land development has been pursued in an haphazard manner, which has placed an even greater imbalance on the development of the central and regional areas of Korea," according to GNP spokesman Kwon Chul-Hyun who quoted Lee as saying Aug. 6 in a meeting of party executives, "A committee must be formed in order to prevent such haphazard national land development, and subcommittees must be formed under the leadership of the autonomous regional jurisdictions to promote a more even development for the regional areas."

Lee also proposed that a task force be set up to work out measures to put the country back on the track where it is governed by law.

"The current administration has become much like the old administrations and is based on personal considerations, which has caused the deterioration of law and order," Lee said.
