He Secretly Meet With a Subway Corporation Officer

It was revealed that the engineman of the Train 1080, who created many victims by driving the train to the fire site in the Joongangro Station of the Daegu Subway and stopping it, secretly met with an officer of the Subway Corporation twice while he was hiding for 11 hours after the incident, so suspicion of hiding his mistakes is being raised.

And it was also revealed that since this engineman took the `master key` when he escaped from the train, passengers in the cars could not open the doors.

▽Secret contact=According to the Police on the 20th, it was revealed that the engineman of the Train 1080 Choi, Sang-Ryol (39) met with an officer of the Daegu Subway Corporation at a coffee shop and a restaurant near the Daegu Station in the morning and in the afternoon after escaping from the disaster site with other passengers.

It was also confirmed that Mr. Choi talked over the cell phone with officers of the Subway Corporation while he was hiding.

A police officer said, “I cannot understand in common sense that he did not go to the Subway Corporation or the Countermove Headquarters, but contacted officers of the Subway Corporation outside,” and “we are investigating the possibility that the two people discussed how to handle the situation.” The Police summoned Mr. Choi and the Subway Corporation officer he contacted that afternoon, and is investigating the reason why they met outside, context of conversation, and the itemization of cell phone calls.

Mr. Choi was hiding after escaping from the fire site and appeared to the Police 11 hours after the fire. Therefore, the Subway Corporation and the Police could not grasp the precise cause of the incident and just relied on statements of the witnesses. Mr. Choi keep the Train 1080 at the Joongangro Station for more than 5 minutes and some doors of the cars did not open, so some 70 people could not escape from the cars and died.

▽The missing master key=The Police confirmed that Mr. Choi took out the `master key` from the engine room and brought it with him while escaping from the Train covered with flames. If the `master key` of the train, which is called the `control key` or `master key` is not in place, passengers can only open the doors manually. The Police, therefore, is concentrating on investigating whether Mr. Choi`s action to take out the `master key` actually grow the number of victims. Although Mr. Choi insisted, “I opened the doors of the passenger cars,” when he escaped, but bodies of the suffocated passengers were found in the passenger cars.

▽Judicial Administration=The Police is planning to request an arrest warrant against Mr. Choi for alleged negligent homicide. Mr. Choi is being charged that he violated the obligation of safe driving that he drove the train into the Joongangro Station even after receiving the communication from the control center that there was a fire broken out at the Joongangro Station.

The Police also decided to request an arrest warrant against Mr. Hong (45), who worked at the general control center in the day of incident, in charge of dereliction of his duty and professional negligence.

Mr. Hong is being charged that he derelict his duty that he could not see the fire at the Joongangro Station, which was on the monitor, for 2 minutes and 50 seconds while working at the general control center of the Daegu Subway Corporation from 9:53:12 in the day of incident.
