The Seoul Metropolitan Facilities Management Corporation will hold the first cultural and festival marketplace at Jamshil underground plaza at Jamshil Station in southern Seoul for two days from Friday. Over 50 companies are joining including social enterprises, merchants at underground shopping complex at Jamshil underground plaza, fair trade companies and environment-friendly companies. They will sell environment-friendly and fair trade products under the theme “Global Village Fair.”

Major items are fair trade coffee, socks made of “hanji,” Korean traditional paper, natural dyeing baby care products, hardwood small furniture and environment-friendly gardening products. The second sort of this fair will be held on September 11 and 12 at the same place.

Various concerts will be held during the event. On Friday, six teams will perform including a capella team and acoustic band “Jujubobo.” On Saturday, six teams including a female duo “Little Liars” and teenager band “Symba” will meet citizens.

“Since open marketplaces are normally held outside, it has been difficult to hold them in rainy days and in cold weather,” said Lee Sang-il, shopping district director at the Seoul corporation. “We decided to open one at an underground mall, along with Seoul City’s social economic support center, to help people enjoy without having to be worried about weather.”
