Students allowed to enter Seoul high schools in May

People who passed the middle school qualification examination (general equivalency diploma) are now allowed to enter high schools in Seoul in May as well as at the beginning of a new semester. According to the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education on Sunday, it has prepared a process for entrance into high schools in May for those who passed the middle school qualification examination for the first time, as the office announced a plan on additional admissions program for high school.

Since the Education Ministry abolished restriction to the period of admission to high schools, the measure taken by the Seoul education office is the first case that the new system has been applied. Until last year, the period of admission to high schools was restricted to within one month after the beginning of a new semester.

The Seoul education office will receive application for high school admission from May 13, the next day after test-takers who passed the high school qualification are announced, to May 15. It will announce students who are admitted to high schools and the names of schools to enter on May 18.
