A South Korean naval vessel launches a torpedo Thursday in a joint military drill in the Yellow Sea. The South Korean military conducted an anti-submarine detection and attack exercise. Some 20 naval vessels, including a 4,500-ton destroyer, anti-submarine helicopters, maritime patrol aircraft and fighter jets will participate in the exercises, which end Monday.

North Korea is not happy over the exercises, however. The North’s Committee for Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland warned Thursday that Pyongyang will “crush the provokers and their stronghold with the most powerful war tactics and strike means beyond imagination if they ever dare set a fire."
