Ahead of the fifth Group of 20 summit to be held in Seoul in November, leaders of the world’s 20 biggest economies and 100 global CEOs will hold a separate group conference, a first for the summit.

The group conference will be held over the summit period, and is expected to boost the status of the Seoul summit.

The preparatory committee for the G20 summit said yesterday that Seoul will host the G20 Business Summit Nov. 11, when the G20 summit will be launched. The government has received confirmations of attendance from global CEOs.

A committee member said, “We planned the meeting since global CEOs hoped to meet leaders and exchange opinions on pending issues. The Federation of Korean Industries will form the G20 Business Summit Organizing Committee, which will supervise practical works such as inviting entrepreneurs.”

The government and the federation will appoint three chairmen for the organizing committee, including federation Chairman Cho Suk-rai who will serve as general manager.

Also slated is the invitation of entrepreneurs, dialogues with global leaders, and presentation of the written opinions of businesses.

The federation will form small groups after surveying the CEOs on whom they want to meet.
