Members of the Ssangyong Motors union on strike at the troubled carmaker’s plant in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, clash yesterday with executives and non-unionized workers who attempt to go to work. Around 3,000 executives and employees who do not face layoffs attempted to enter the plant after the union rejected management’s final proposal on labor downsizing. About 500 riot troops were dispatched to prevent the situation from worsening.
