Pres. Lee Lauds Team for Finding New Everest Route

President Lee Myung-bak yesterday sent a congratulatory telegram to a four-man Korean climbing expedition that scaled Mount Everest led by Park Young-seok.

The team climbed the Southwest Face of Everest Wednesday to open the "Korean route."

"The Korean route, a new trail traveled by nobody before, will be Korea’s big accomplishment and pride,” President Lee said.

He also said the expeditionary team achieved a great accomplishment by exploring a new path never before taken, adding, "This will give great encouragement to the Korean people, who are striving to build an advanced country.”
