Pope Visits Holocaust Memorial

Pope Benedict XVI (middle) in Israel yesterday prays for the estimated six million Jews killed by Nazi Germany in the Second World War at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial. “May the names of these victims never perish. May their suffering never be denied, belittled or forgotten,” he said, but the pope disappointed certain Jewish religious leaders who said he should have apologized as a German and a Christian for the attempted genocide.
