Korea at Crossroads

Amid the global economic slowdown, the Korean economy facing its worst crisis since the 1997 financial crisis, some critics say, due to the U.S. beef import issue, economic recession and a series of labor strikes. The country will have to overcome the troubles at home and abroad in order to gain momentum for advancement. The picture shows an apartment construction site in the Gangbuk area in northern Seoul. The construction has been disrupted since the recent strike of the Korea Cargo Transport Workers Union delayed trucking of materials.
