U.S. TV Station Says Boston Should Model Itself After Seoul

WCVB-TV, a local television station in the northeastern part of the U.S., introduced Seoul as one of cities that Boston should seek as a future model.

The WCVB-TV show titled Future Boston: Creating a Competitive Edge in the Global Economy being broadcast in October 30, named Seoul as a world leading city especially in terms of IT, culture, and urban design.

In particular, the TV show spotlighted the development of technology and information in Seoul by visiting SK Telecom, and highlighting its electronic business culture and developed digital media industry. In addition, they covered the Cheonggyechon development project, high-tech medical facilities and an interview with Shim Hyung-rae, a director of move “D-War.”

The next show, which is scheduled to air on November 27, will deal with the achievements of Korean stars in the international entertainment industry, and introduce Namdaemu market, and the demilitarized zone to viewers.

The shows are being specially produced with the help of MIT and are filmed on location in Dublin, Seoul, Vancouver and Portland, Oregon, which have been selected as the top urban areas that Boston can learn from.
