Lee Seung-yeop will likely play for Yomiuri next year, too.
Sports Hochi published an article on October 9 about Lees next season right after he finished a team training stint in Yomiuri Land. According to the news paper, Lee said, I have many things in Japan I want to do. I have yet to set any records, and I have to contribute to my team more.
When Lee signed a 4-year contract worth 3 billion yen last year, he said that he would choose between either remaining with Yomiuri or going to the Major Leagues when his team wins Japans Baseball Championship.
Lee finished this season hitting .274 with 30 homeruns and scoring 84, with 74 runs batted in. The less-than-expected performance was largely due to knee surgery and inflammation in his left thumb. Even though he did not live up to the expectations, his team won the league title, however.
