KOSPI Sets Record High of 2014.09

The Korea Stock Price Index (KOSPI) reached a record high on the back of increasing U.S. stock prices and the South and North Korean Summit yesterday. The KOSPI went up 51.42 points (2.62%) to reach 2,014.09 pt, breaking the 2,000-point mark. The figure is 10 points higher than the previous record of 2,004.22 set on July 25.

KOSPI market capitalization rose to KRW1007.25 trillion, reaching the KRW1,000 trillion level for the first time.

The KOSDAQ also rose to 810.32, up 7.20 points (0.90%) from the previous day.

U.S. and Japan markets also increased.

The Nikkei rose 200.82 yen (1.19%) to finish at 17,046.78. Hong Kong and Taiwan saw their stock markets surge as well.

Earlier, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 191.92 points (1.38%) to stand at 14,087.55, the highest level ever, driving upward momentum globally.
