DCCHEM Founder Dies

Lee Hoe-rim, the founder and honorary chair-person of DC Chemical Co., Ltd., died on July 18 at the age of 90.

The deceased founder established Oriental Chemical Industries, the predecessor of the current DC Chem, in 1959 and has dedicated his life to developing the chemical industry for about four decades. He was awarded the Order of Industrial Service Merit (stone tower) in 1971, a medal of merit in 1977, the Order of Industrial Service Merit (silver tower) in 1979 and the Order of Industrial Service Merit (gold tower) in 1986.

The bereaved family members of the chairman include Lee Su-yeong, chairman of Korea Employers Federation and current chairman of DC Chemical Co., Lee Bok-yeong, chairman of Samkwang Glass Co., and Lee Wha-yeong, chairman of UNID Co. A ceremonial hall has been set up for the deceased at the Seoul National university hospital in Seoul. The funeral service will be held at the same hospital at 8:30 a.m. on July 22. The burial place is Oga-ri, Changsu-myeon, Pocheon, Gyeonggi-do.
