Han Myeong-sook, the former prime minister, officially announced on June 18 that she would run for the presidency.

In a press conference, Han said in her camp office located in Yeouido, “It’s time to create another miracle in order to make Korea an advanced country in the 21st Century. I’ll help Korea embrace ordinary people and Koreans lead a happy life.”

Kim Doo-gwan, the former minister of government affairs and home affairs, said at the Kim Koo Museum Library in Yongsan that he would also run for president while he celebrated the publication of his book, “Roads Are Open to Everyone.”

He said in his speech, “Becoming a ‘100-year-party’ that was proclaimed by the Uri Party was a failure, but for the participatory government, that isn’t the case. I will fight against those who say pro-democratic forces and the participatory government failed.”

Kim Yeong-whan, the former minister of science and technology, before he became an unsuccessful presidential candidate in 2004, had a press conference at the National Assembly building and said, “The next presidential candidate should come from the Democratic Party.”
