Children Desperate of Hope

“Please help these children, so that their eyes can be filled with hope.” The picture taken on Wednesday shows a school within a refugee camp in Ethiopia. Children who have escaped from a civil war in Somalia look outside the camp with curious eyes. More than nine million African children who have become refugees due to military conflict and natural disasters are faced with dreadful situations and physical abuse. Dong-A Ilbo reporter Jeon Yeong-han took the picture while participating in the World’s Refugee Children Charity held by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
