NASA, America’s space agency, released 3D solar images for the first time on April 23. These were put together from images taken by the identical observatories known as STEREO, which were launched in October last year, one ahead of and the other behind Earth in its orbit. When the images are viewed with 3D glasses, they can be viewed in three dimensions. From top left clockwise, solar images of 1 million degrees C, 1.5 million C, 60,000-80,000 C and 200,000 C.
