Lee Kun-hee, chairman of the Samsung Group, is likely to attend many formal gatherings celebrating the end of 2006 and the New Year. Chairman Lee is also expected to take part in a mutual cooperation meeting between large companies and SMEs at Cheong Wa Dae on December 28.

The meeting, led by President Roh Moo-hyun, is a regular gathering held twice every year. Hyundai and Kia Motors chairman Chung Mong-koo, LG Group chairman Koo Bon-Moo, and SK Group chairman Chey Tae-won will also be present. The meeting comes 19 months since heads of the four major groups met in May 2005. Mr. Lee will participate in Samsung Group’s New Year’s ceremony to be held in The Shilla in Seoul on January 2, 2007. He will present a business strategy elaborating on creative management, which he has focused on, and management goals for 2007 in video form.

He will preside over the ‘Proud Men of Samsung Awards’ to be held at Hoam Art Hall in Seoul on January 9. He has been present at the awards every year, but he was absent last year for overseas business reasons. Samsung Group will announce the result of their executive personnel management decisions around January 15 after finishing New Year’s ceremonies.
