“We rule in collegiate volleyball!”

Inha University has swept all the titles for men’s collegiate volleyball this season.

In the final match of the 2006 Hyundai Capital Cup National Collegiate Volleyball Championships held on November 14 at Gamgol Citizens’ Hall in Ansan, Inha University won the championship trophy by defeating Hanyang University by a set score of 3-1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-17). Among its players, Lim Si-hyeong (17 pts), Jeong Gi-hyeok (13 pts), and Choi Gwi-dong (13 pts) were especially outstanding.

Led by Coach Choi Cheon-sik, the former deputy manager of Korean Air, Inha University has swept all five titles they were eligible for. Beginning with the spring tournament that was held in May, they continuously collected trophies at the following fall tournament, National Sports Festival, national championship, and the collegiate championship.

Although the team’s left attacker Kim Yo-han joined the national team to prepare for the world championships, Lim Si-hyeong brilliantly filled in and was named collegiate MVP.

After winning the first and second set with quick attacks, Inha gave up the third set by committing numerous errors. However, as soon as they got into the fourth set, they promptly discouraged Hanyang players by blocking five shots, which suddenly widened the gap in the set’s score to 7-2.
