On October 9, Japanese rightist groups staged a protest in front of headquarters of Chongryeon (the Pro-North Korean residents’ league in Japan) in Tokyo, condemning North Korea’s nuclear tests. The Japanese government, which had slapped an import ban on North Korean products, stepped up its trade securities on roundabout import concerns that some North Korean products would penetrate into the Japanese market, including Manila clams and matsutake mushrooms indigenous to North Korea from the third neighboring countries.
