Lorena Ochoa (Mexico) has won a come-from-behind victory against the golf empress Annika Sorenstam of Sweden.

On October 16, Ochoa finished at 16-under-par 272 and won the LPGA Tour Samsung World Championship title by showing her powerful strokes with a stunning closing eagle, five birdies and firing a 7-under-par 65 in the final fourth round alone at Bighorn GC Canyon Course (par 72) in Palm Dessert, California. Sorenstam, who had secured her solo lead until yesterday, managed the second place in the end (14-under-par 274).

The Mexican golf queen collected her fifth victory on the season and the $2,342,872 of her total earnings during the season padded her lead on the LPGA Tour money list on the season.

Lee Sun-hwa (CJ), who showed the best performance among Korean golfers in this match, was ranked in the joint-eighth place (four-under-par 284) but other Korean golfers were out of the top ten list. Pak Se-ri (CJ) struggled to resume in the joint-eleventh place at even-par 288 while Michelle Wie (17) came in 17th place at 5-over-par 293.
