President Roh Moo-hyun will hold a one-on-one meeting with Park Geun-hye, leader of the main opposition Grand National Party, at 2:00 p.m. on September 7 at Cheong Wa Dae, the presidential office.
Park was entrusted with discretion to decide the meeting schedule and strategy by a plenary meeting of the GNP lawmakers on Monday. After consulting with other party leadership, she suggested to President Roh to meet on Wednesday and discuss overall state affairs with three additional attendees from each party.
The meeting between the president and Park is the first one in a year and a half since Park ascended to party leadership in March 2004.
In the meeting, the president will be flanked with Chief of Staff Lee Byung-wan, Chief of the Presidential Policy Office Kim Byung-jun, and Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Kim Man-su, while Park will bring Policy Commission Chair of the GNP Maeng Hyung-gyu, Chief Secretariat Yu Seung-min, and GNP spokesperson Jeon Yeo-ok.
