Starting June 30, the Chinese government opened the entrance of the glass protection wall over the monument of King Gwanggaeto that it installed in 2003 to the public. Tourists are free to visit right up to the front of the monument, and tourists’ coins and banknotes are scattered at the feet of the monument. Dark red bonds inserted into the chasms of the monument are running down and staining the monument’s body that survived hardships over the last 1,500 years.
