Arrived at the North Pole

Expedition leader Park Young-seok, who arrived at the North Pole at 4:45 a.m. on Sunday after 54 days of life-or-death struggle, is shouting for joy with his hands up. It was the first time anyone in the world had completed mountaineering’s grand slam. The small photo is of four expedition members at the North Pole with the Korean national flag and the Dong-a Ilbo flag. The expedition group finally publicized the photos yesterday when they arrived at their base camp after being isolated at the North Pole due to a four-day flight delay because of bad weather.
