Rare Humpback Whale Caught in a Net

A rare humpback whale was found dead in a snow crab net set 11 kilometers southeast of Chooksan harbor in Yeongdeok-gun, North Gyeongsang Province yesterday. Measuring eight meters long, 4.4 meters around, and weighing 7.5 tons, the whale was sold for 22.55 million won at the Chooksan Fisheries Cooperatives in Yeongdeok-gun. Known for making the loudest sounds among whales, it is the fifth time that a humpback whale has been found dead caught in a net in Korean waters.
