27-year-old Australian star player Mark Philippoussis nicknamed `Skud Missile` for his thunderclap strokes upset the top-ranked Agassi in the fourth round of Wimbledon at the All England Club on July 1.

The unseeded Australian hit a record-tying 46 aces and upset Agassi 6-3, 2-6, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-4.

His aces tied Goran Ivanisevic`s Wimbledon record. The grand slam record is 49 aces, set by Rihart Crichez in U.S. Open quarterfinal in 1999.

Philippoussis won 11 games he served in the fifth set alone. The first serve reached the speed of 216km and the second was also strong at 193km.

Philippoussis, who had lost six straight matches against Agassi, earned his fourth trip to Wimbledon`s quarterfinals this time. He will be back Wednesday for a quarterfinal match against Alexander Popp, a German ranked 198th.

Agassi`s exit means there are no past winners in the quarterfinals. The last time that happened was in 1973.

No. 5-seeded Andy Roddick, who set the world`s fastest serve record of 239.8km, advanced with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over 12th seed Paradorn Srichaphan of Thailand. Roddick won 62 of 64 games he served at Wimbledon this year.

Meanwhile, Seok Hyeon-jun (Pohang High School) of Korea upset American Alex Cusnechov 6-7, 7-6, 6-4 in the first round of men`s junior single.
