“Can’t Believe Even Mobiles”

Concrete situation that wiretapping was carried out targeting politicians and enterprisers, including the Blue House, revealed by GNP has led to an increase of ‘ fear of wiretapping ’ and buying and inquiry of devices that helps in preventing such tapping.

Some firms are examining strategy for securing communication from the beginning and buying and inquiry of microphones that can prevent tapping adhering to mobile has increased two times than before.

In case of A financial agency, it ordered 10 microphones, which costs 2 million won per one set from a communication security firm.

The firm concerned said, “We are preparing against tapping of wire phones, however, now, we are planning security strategy from the beginning since revealing of suspicion of wiretap by GNP.” And added “We decided to install microphones in mobiles to prevent tapping of emergency meetings.”

B Construction Company that has suffered due to frequent leak of information decided to buy device for preventing wiretapping recently, too. It stated, “We doubted as tender information used to get leaked.” and added “We made conclusion that not only wire phone but also mobile can be wiretapped after seeing the issue and communication between reporters and politicians.”

Government concerned also is showing sensitive response in ‘wiretapping mobiles’. A leader of government ministry counseled one security person regarding prevention of tapping mobiles. He, who was counseled, said, “It is rare that politician or high-level staff inquires on the phone.” and added “Most of them says, ‘let’s meet as I want to discuss something’, but if I meet them, it is regarding device for preventing tapping.”

Security firms are exchanging information with one another as possibility of tapping mobiles is rising and some firms are likely to develop devices for preventing tapping by themselves.

K security firms concerned, “We thought GNP’s raising of suspicion of wiretapping is reliable and decided to start developing device for preventing tapping of mobiles and w are trying to grasp related technology from U.S, France, U.K firms.”

The concerned said, “We are receiving 5~20 calls a day since last week. And it is hard to reveal the concrete amount, anyway, the sale amount has increased.”

Managing staff of H security firm said, “Phones for counseling in November reached up to hundred.” and added “Inquiry calls by politicians last month has increased two times than October.”
