Cheongryangri Police Station, Seoul brought 3 American soldiers on the suspicion of attacking the former Assemblyman, Seo Gyeong-won, who is the joint representative of the national measures committee in relation to a death of female middle school students by an armored motorcar and then passed them to US military police after investigation.
According to the policeman, one solder hit Mr. Seo on the face several times, while arguing with Mr. Seo and his troupe, who were on the way to The Memory of Dead Middle School Students in Kyunghee University, inside a subway.
He broke his nasal bone and was seriously injured. He was hospitalized in Kyunghee Univ. Medical Center. Three American soldiers were investigated as a witness.
According to eyewitnesses, while Mr. Seo and 10 college students handed mimeographed copies on to people, they handed it on to the US soldier in subway, but he abused Mr. Seo in English when Mr. Seo asked what do you think of the incident?
As soon as Mr. Seo beckoned to him not to shower abuse, he beat Mr. Seo.
Citizens and 20 students tried to pull out three US soldiers when the train stopped at Hwegi near KyungHee University to take them to the university. However, the standing policeman took two US soldiers and took one soldier to the police station at 8 Oclock P.M.
Mr. Seo who was the Assemblyman of Pyeongmin party was sentenced to five years in prison in August 1990 owing to the National Security Law because he went to North Korea without permission of the government in August 1988. So, he lost his position of the Assemblyman. He is currently a standing adviser of the national independent unification committee after amnesty and reinstatement in February 1999
