Comics ‘Hong Myeong-bo Story’ that Japanese writer drew (Haksan munhwa 2000 won) has been translated in Korean and published. This story is about growth of Hong Myeong-bo, who is ‘eldest brother’ of Korean team, and Japanese ‘weekly teenager magazine’ has published it in memory of co-hosting of Korea Japan 2002 World Cup.
The writer Mutz Doshiyuki came to Korea at the beginning of this year to collect data about Hong Myeong-bo and visited his house, Dongdaemoon Stadium and his team, Pohang Steelers.
Hong Myeong-bo has been said to be a talented soccer player since boyhood and have strong spirit. While his team members were often complaining of hard training, he patted them on the shoulders and regarded as a leader.
The writer has condensed Hong Myeong-bo’s effort as his 30m long-distance shot, which he took after 18 minutes of second half of Korea-Germany match in 1994 U.S.A. World Cup.
