Election Commission Slaps Fines against Minor Violations

The National Election Commission said on June 8 that it identified 595 minor cases of election law violation such as failing to wear shoulder lace or ID cards, and imposed 76.8 million won.

Those campaigning without ID cards took a large chunk with 412 cases or 46.3 million won, followed by 72 cases of failing to put on automobile stickers (7.1 million won), 62 of failing to wear shoulder lace (6.2 million won), 21 cases of neglecting document-filing, 12 cases of delaying removing posters (3.2 million won) and 16 others (5.25 million won).

Of the total, 558 cases worth 62.8 million won, or 81.7%, were reported by civilian monitoring members, the commission said.
